Charleston Christmas Mini Sessions—On YOUR Schedule

This may be my favorite part of this year’s Studio Holiday Minis.

Most mini-session events happen on one specific day. That’s great…unless that Saturday happens to be the soccer tournament, birthday party, Nutcracker rehearsal, family trip, Clemson game, nap disaster or approximately 47th other thing already occupying your holiday calendar.

The great thing about owning a studio is that I get to do things differently!

Studio Holiday Mini Sessions are available from November 1 through December 10, giving families the flexibility to choose a session date that works for them.

That makes these sessions especially convenient for families trying to fit Christmas photos in Charleston around school, work, sports, travel and holiday events.

You get the ease and price point of a mini session without having to rearrange your entire life to attend a one-day event.

What’s Included in a Holy City Babies Holiday Mini Session?

Each Charleston Holiday Mini Session is $400 and includes:

• Two beautifully designed holiday portrait sets
• A 30-minute studio portrait session
• A curated proof gallery of your best holiday images
• Your choice of 10 high-resolution digital image downloads

A $200 deposit reserves your session, and the remaining $200 balance is due three days before your appointment.

Thirty minutes is long enough to create variety without asking small children—or reluctant spouses—to maintain holiday cheer for an hour and a half.

I know how to work quickly.

After 17 years of photographing families and children professionally, I don’t need an hour to figure out where everyone should stand. We’ll move through different groupings and expressions efficiently while still giving your children room to be themselves.

TWO Christmas Sets = More Variety

One of the biggest advantages of booking your Christmas Mini Session at Holy City Babies is that you aren’t getting one backdrop and ten nearly identical photographs.

Your session includes access to two distinct holiday sets, giving your final gallery more visual variety.

That means we can create the polished family portrait for your Christmas card, sweet sibling photographs for grandparents, individual portraits of the children and those more relaxed, personality-filled images you’ll want to keep for yourself.

The sets are custom styled to feel festive, elevated and unmistakably Christmas without becoming so trendy or theme-heavy that your portraits feel dated next year.

My goal is Christmas—not Christmas aisle explosion.

You’ll book online, select the date and time that works for you, complete your paperwork and receive information to help you prepare for your session.

Then you simply show up dressed and ready.

Your session itself lasts approximately 30 minutes, and your proof gallery will be delivered after your session so you can select your included images.

The result is a streamlined Charleston holiday portrait experience that gives you professional photographs without turning family pictures into an all-day event.

Where Are the Holiday Mini Sessions?

Studio Holiday Mini Sessions take place at Holy City Babies Portrait Studio at 1020 Savannah Highway in Charleston, South Carolina, in Avondale and convenient to Downtown Charleston, West Ashley, James Island and surrounding Charleston communities.

And there are some exciting things happening around the studio lately.

My new neighbors at The Wrkt Charleston are right next door at 1024 Savannah Highway and offer Reformer Pilates classes. Rome Physical Therapy has also recently joined our little Savannah Highway neighborhood.

I love watching this corner of Avondale fill with locally rooted businesses centered around families, movement, wellness and community.

What Should We Wear for Charleston Christmas Photos?

The short answer: coordinate, don’t match.

For holiday portraits, think about the finished photograph as a whole rather than choosing everyone’s outfit separately.

Cream, navy, forest green, camel, burgundy and other rich seasonal neutrals photograph beautifully. Classic tartan, velvet, smocked dresses, Jon Jons, sweaters and subtle textures can add a Christmas feel without overwhelming the photograph.

If you’re using your portraits for holiday cards, also consider your home’s aesthetic. If your Christmas décor is traditional and understated, your portraits can follow that same visual language.

Above all, avoid waiting until the night before.

Nothing tests the Christmas spirit quite like discovering at 10:47 p.m. that one child has outgrown the shoes you planned to use

When Should We Schedule Christmas Photos in Charleston?

If you’re planning to order Christmas cards, gifts or prints, I recommend booking earlier in the November 1–December 10 window when possible.

Earlier sessions give you more breathing room for holiday card design, printing and mailing.

But because these sessions are available across several weeks, later dates are also a wonderful option for families whose November calendars are already overflowing.

That’s the whole point: your holiday portraits should fit into your life—not take it over.
