WOW! I'M ABSOLUTELY SPEECHLESS.
I typically photograph expectant mothers between 30 - 34 weeks because I consider this time frame to be a sweet spot (your bump has popped out but you're usually not yet retaining water, swelling in your face, legs, ankles, etc.) Also, expectant mamas are typically feeling pretty good around this time. Of course there are exceptions to this, if you're expecting multiples or if this is not your first child, your bump may appear sooner and you may be ready to shoot a little earlier!
WHEN SHOULD I SCHEDULE MY SESSION?
Choosing to become a beloved member of the Holy City Babies Family means that you will have exclusive access to our Maternity Client Closet with custom Maternity Gowns, Body Suits, Tossing Fabrics, etc. for your session! Each portrait session is custom, meaning: if you have a specific look in mind (ex. pre-pregnancy jeans, un-bottoned with a bra or topless with arms strategically covering your chest, etc.) we can certainly talk about your ideas and plan for those during your pre-session phone consultation!
WHAT DO I WEAR?
That depends on your vision for your Maternity Photos! We can shoot a fine art, editorial style maternity session at the studio OR we can shoot in downtown Charleston, Hampton Park, Charlestowne Landing, one of our beautiful country parks, Magnolia Gardens OR we can shoot on Isle of Palms, Folly Beach or Kiawah Island! The possibilities are truly endless and I am also totally open to shooting somewhere amazing that I might not even know about yet!
where do we shoot?
I always recommend booking after about 20 weeks and as soon as possible during your pregnancy. I can only accept a maximum of 7 expectant parents for Maternity Portraits each month and because of this, my availability is limited. We typically want to shoot between 30 - 33 weeks. Booking your session early makes scheduling professional hair & makeup easier and allows time for production and shipping if I'll be ordering a custom Maternity Gown for your session!
WHEN SHOULD I BOOK YOU?
I have Maternity & Newborn Portrait Studios in both Charleston, SC (where I currently live) and Asheville (my hometown where I've owned a portrait studio for the last 15 years). My service area includes all of Charleston County. Most Newborn Sessions occur in my studio. If you would like me to travel outside of Charleston County for your Maternity or In-Home Newborn Session, my travel fee is $2 per mile, round trip.

Of course you can! I spent 15 years shooting weddings and families, so I'm pretty good at photojournalistic / event coverage (for a baby shower or gender reveal, etc.) OR if you're entire family is getting together and you'd like a portrait session with the new baby while you're all together, I'm your girl! Whatever your unique request is, I can probably knock it out of the park, so don't hesitate to reach out! I'll probably be into it! 😘

All that is required to reserve a Maternity Portrait session date on my shoot calendar is a signed portrait contract and a non-refundable
$400 Creative Fee.
This fee includes professional hair & makeup service as well as your choice of couture maternity gowns, body suits and tossing fabrics from our complimentary client closet for your custom, fine art maternity portrait session.
This fee also compensates your photographer for their experience, expertise, time and talent to shoot your portrait session, to enhance your images and to deliver an online proof gallery within7 days of your maternity photoshoot in Charleston, South Carolina.
Once your proof gallery has been delivered, you will then have 7 days with your online gallery to choose either an Heirloom Print Collection or to Order from the A La Carte Product List.
There is an $800 minimum print investment.
