Nothing can prepare you for how quickly your newborn will grow and change!! Those first days and weeks pass by in an endless haze of sleep deprivation, feeding, changing, laundry, nap, repeat. Trust me when I tell you, you'll want these images to remember just how incredibly love drunk you were on this tiny, perfect little human! I know that the thought of leaving the house in those first weeks for your baby's newborn portrait session can feel daunting...
Which is why every newborn session begins with fresh brewed coffee or mimosas, snacks and professional hair & makeup at my studio for mom while I photograph your sweet, sleepy baby! Once you're finished with hair and makeup, you can choose a dress from my client closet or you can wear something of your own & we'll get started photographing your new baby with their parents, siblings and family! Newborn Sessions typically last about 3hrs from start to finish.

All that is required to reserve a Newborn Portrait Session date on my shoot calendar is a signed portrait contract and a non-refundable
$500 Creative Fee.
This fee includes professional hair & makeup service for mom, as well as exclusive access to our Client Closet. This fee also pays for any special prop items ordered specifically for your baby's custom Newborn Portrait Session. Lastly, this fee pays me for my time and talent to shoot your session, to edit your images and to deliver an online proof gallery within 7 days of your portrait session.After your proof gallery has been delivered, you will have 7 days with your online gallery to choose either an Heirloom Print Collection or to Order from the A La Carte Product List. There is an $800 minimum print investment.

WOW! I'M ABSOLUTELY SPEECHLESS.
I can only accept a maximum of 7 families for Newborn Portraits each month. Because of this my availability is limited and I would encourage you to book your Newborn Photoshoot as soon as possible after your pregnancy has reached the point of viability (around 20 weeks). Most parents book their Newborn Photos within about 4 - 5 months of their due date and thus my shoot calendar fills up quickly. Its important to schedule as soon as possible to ensure my availability for your baby!
WHEN SHOULD I BOOK YOU?
Good news! I have a small client closet filled with Baltic Born Dresses for new moms. There are a range of sizes from Small - XXL. I chose this brand specifically because the dresses are all very flowy, feminine, forgiving and flattering for new moms!
If you want to wear something of your own, you are certainly welcome to do that!
I always recommend light, airy colors and flowy, feminine, forgiving & flattering fabrics!

WHAT DO I WEAR?
Most Newborn Photoshoots in Charleston happen at my Newborn Photography Studio located on James Island. The studio is beautiful, comfortable and well appointed for your Newborn Portrait Session.
If you would like to shoot a Lifestyle, In-Home Newborn Portrait Session, I am happy to pack everything we need and come to your home to photograph your new baby & family in the comfort of your home!
whERE DO We SHOOT?
The best time for Newborn Portraits is between days 12 - 21. This is typically a sweet spot for new babies! By this time, any jaundice they may have had has cleared, you typically have a pretty good handle on feeding by this point, they've had time to heal from any procedures after birth and you've had enough time to settle in at home and get into somewhat of a rhythm! This all makes the likelihood of a successful Newborn Session more likely because Newborn Photoshoots see best results with full, sleepy, content babies!
WHEN SHOULD I SCHEDULE MY
NEWBORN SESSION?
Most Newborn Portrait Sessions happen in my studio. This is my preference as I have everything I need to make your Newborn Portrait Session dreams come true, right at my finger tips! I also control the light and environment to produce images that are in line with my portfolio and that I know you will love. It's trickier going into someone's home, not knowing what their space looks like, what the lighting conditions are, etc. With that being said, if you would like me to come to you, I am happy to travel to your home to shoot a Lifestyle, In-Home Newborn Portrait Session. My service area includes all of Charleston County. If you would like me to travel outside of Charleston County for your In-Home Newborn Session, my travel fee is $2 per mile, round trip.

Your Newborn Session Proofs will be delivered within 7 days of your portrait session via Pixieset, a private, password protected online proof gallery.
Once your gallery has been delivered, you will then have 7 days with your proof gallery to choose either an Heirloom Print Collection or to order from the A La Carte Product List.

Once I hear from you, that you are ready to move forward with booking your Newborn Photoshoot, I will send over a Portrait Contract to sign and send back online (via adobe sign) and an invoice for your Creative Fee (via quickbooks). Once both of these administrative pieces have been returned, I will add your due date to my Shoot Calendar as a tentative place holder, schedule professional hair & makeup and send my Client Prep Guide so that we can begin planning for your baby's Newborn Portrait Session!
